Game of Bones Genetics Guide
Every wolf carries hidden genes as well as the traits you can see. A gene pair contains one allele from the mother and one from the father.
Gene locations
| Locus | Controls | Examples |
|---|---|---|
coat | Main coat family | moonveil, ember, frostglass, stormraven, verdant |
wing_type | Wing shape and feather style | seraph, ember, frostglass, stormraven, thornwing |
element | Optional elemental effect | moon, fire, ice, storm, nature |
mutation | Rare special change | mutation alleles |
How breeding passes genes
The baby receives one random allele from each parent at every locus. Hidden alleles remain stored even when they are not visible.
Example:

ember / wildBaby:
moonveil / emberThis lets a wolf carry a rare coat, wing, or elemental trait and pass it to later generations.
Special forms
A special form changes the visible phenotype while preserving the wolf’s parentage and genetics. Forms can therefore be reversed without damaging the lineage.
- Moonveil Seraph
- Emberwing
- Frostglass
- Stormraven
- Verdant Thornwing
Genetics potions
- Wing Awakening Elixir: adds a stable wing allele.
- Gene Reveal Tonic: displays stored gene pairs.
- Mutation Catalyst: adds one safe mutation allele.
- Form Elixirs: apply a reversible special form.
- Elemental Potions: add a breedable moon, fire, ice, storm, or nature allele.
Important rule
Potions should never overwrite the mother, father, or offspring records. Those fields preserve the wolf’s history permanently.
